Embracing chaos....

Well, it seems like I've been on a brief hiatus between blog posts!

Life is such a whirlwind lately, what with getting a garden established, wedding preparations and winding down on a bathroom renovation.

As I was sitting doing a bit of embroidery on my Life is Beautiful with my coffee this morning, I took a moment to reflect on the message of the block....Life is divine chaos, embrace it. So, that's what I'm going to do....grab this whirlwind life by the tail and run with it!

I did get some progress on the bathroom walls this weekend. There are a couple of "problem" areas and my contractor seems to have deserted me! I think he had no idea of how to make these problems go away.....so I'll just have to do my best. I am starting to see the end in sight, though, and that's wonderful.

I took a bit of time last week to start assembling my Circle quilt. I really wanted it to be together and custom quilted in time for my trunk show in June but that's not a realistic expectation! The new deadline for this quilt will be to have it done for the Fall fair...that's much more do-able!

Here's a picture of it on the design wall coming together....I love it!....

I also want to share a picture of a quilt that was on the longarm last week. I like house quilts and this one was nicely done with a contemporary feel....

It's another busy day here, with a trip to the city and hopefully start a new quilt on the longarm, but I am determined to find an hour to prepare some applique! I haven't had any applique to work on for the last week since the difficult thing for me is to get the prep work done. Luckily, it's easy to have a bit of embroidery to do at a moment's notice.

Have a great day, and remember to embrace the chaos!

One of those days

It's one of those mornings when you wake up soooo early. I lay there for a while between 3:00 and 4:00 this morning wide awake. I was still quite tired, but sleep was done for the night.

So what's a quilter to do?? I think it's #4 on the list of "Why it's good to be a quilter", that there is always something to poke at at the drop of a hat!

I do like early morning, it's my favourite time of the day. It was peaceful as I got three quarters of the way around the binding of this quilt, so that's the bright side of my early morning!

I'll try to get some work done this morning, an errand to do at lunchtime....then I think a nap will be in order!

We have been eating so healthy the last couple of weeks, but today #4 child is home for a day. So, I think a big, fat lasagna is in order! (any excuse, right???)

On the design wall today are a few of my Circle blocks. This is the next of my quilts to try to get done. I'd really like to have it done for a trunk show I'm doing in June. I have a feeling this month is going to fly by!

Don't look too closely at the blocks. The first couple that I appliqued are not quite centred....after that I figured out how to centre them nicely! I didn't tear the first couple out, I don't mind that they're not quite perfect.

Have a great day!

Stitching on a Sunday

I started my day with a new block on my Life is Beautiful quilt...

Here is my newly finished block this week...

I hope to finish Sunburst today...

....so that I can end my day hand-sewing the binding down...it's ready and waiting....

Visit with Kathy on her blog to see what others are working on today over at Kathy's Quilts.

Oh, what a beautiful morning!

What a glorious day it will be today....so nice to be able to spend time outdoors!

This week I was happy to have a limb taken down from a tree in my backyard. It's worried me for a while that it may come crashing down so I feel much relief that it's finally done. It was such an interesting process, the tree guys had such a system to do the job using ropes and leverage...I never imagined this was how they do there work!

Here's a picture of them gently lowering the branch to the ground after having trimmed all the smaller branches from it. Another bonus is that the poor little tree that used to be in the shadow of this large Silver Maple can now flourish!

I was going to attend the quilt show in Guelph today but I think I'll have to stay home to do some stuff that needs doing instead! I'm kinda torn, because I hear the birds out my window and the sun is shining so bright, just luring me out to a trip to the show!...but I know if I go I'll be thinking of how productive a day can be had here.

Firstly, I hope this weekend to finish my Sunburst! It is coming along so nicely and I really do think it will be ready for Tuesday's guild meeting.

I'm linking up to WIP's  Be Gone and you can take a look at other quilters' journeys using the button on the right of my post! It's encouraging to see other quilter's making progress in their old UFO's!

Another project for the weekend will be to try and make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. My bathroom reno is coming along nicely but we've had a bit of a disaster with the walls! I'm not too worried because it's work I know how to do....but I just want to go play in the backyard, lol.

Have a great day!
